Product Description WSD DIAZINON is a treatment for external parasites of sheep, cattle, goats and pigs. Type of Preparation WSD DIAZINON is an emulsifiable concentrate containing 200g/L Diazinon- an organophosphate insecticide- to be diluted with water and used as a spray or dressing. Indications Sheep and lambs: Blowfly dressing for struck sheep and around marking wounds on lambs. SPECIAL NOTE: The use of diazinon to treat sheep lice is not permitted except under a permit issued by the APVMA. Milking sheep: Should not be used in sheep producing milk for human consumption. Cattle: Biting and sucking lice (Bovicola bovis, Linognathus vituli, Haematopinus eurysternus). Dairy Cattle: Suitable for cattle producing milk for human consumption (see withholding period information) Goats: Lice (Damalinia caprae) Dairy Goats: Suitable for goats producing milk for human consumption (see withholding period information) Pigs: Lice (Haematopinus suis) and mange (Sarcoptes scabei) Dosage Always refer to the label. Sheep: Blowfly treatment- Dilute 5ml/L (1g/L) in water and saturate the affected area. Use a brush or suitable applicator to avoid contact by the operator. Marking wounds- Dilute 5ml/2L (0.5g/L) in water and apply to the wool around the wound. Goats: Lice- Hand spray: 100mL/40L (0.5g/L) in water. Thoroughly wet goats with spray. A second spraying may be necessary 16 to 17 days later. Cattle: Lice- Hand spray: 1L/400L (0.5g/L) in water. Spray thoroughly using 5 to 10 L per head. A second spraying 16 to 17 days later is necessary to break the life cycle of the lice. Pigs: Lice, mange- Hand spray: 100ml/40L (0.5g/L) in water. Thoroughly wet pigs with spray. Use three applications at 10 day intervals. Advice on use ·WSD DIAZINON must never be applied undiluted and should be correctly diluted before use. ·All preparations containing diazinon should be treated with CAUTION. Personal protective equipment is recommended for operators when diluting or using diazinon preparations. ·WSD DIAZINON must not be stored in any container other than the original. ·There is widespread resistance to diazinon among populations of the sheep blowfly lucilia cuprina. Animals treated with diazinon alone may still be susceptible to re-strike. ·Diazinon is no longer permitted to be used for dipping or jetting of sheep for the treatment of lice. WSD provides a range of alternative products for the treatment or control of lice including WSD FLOCKMASTER MKII or WSD COMMAND.
